About Our Church

The church is blessed to have two musical ensembles, a vocal choir which performs during worship several times per month and a handbell choir that performs not only in worship, but in the wider community as well.

Both groups practice on Thursday evenings from mid-September until the end of May. New participants are always welcome and no audition is required.


Food Pantry: The church serves as the only food pantry for the city of Wood Dale. The pantry is available to residents of the city and the hours of operations are Tuesday mornings from 9:00 - 11:00

P.A.D.S - People Aligned to Deliver Shelter. The church serves a site to provide meals and shelter to the homeless on Friday evenings.

AA meetings are held on Wednedsay evenings

Rev. Terry McDorman was appointed to Wood Dale Community UMC in 2015.

In addition to his responsibilities  here, Pastor Terry is chairperson of the NIC Committee on Accessibility Ministries, which is charged with developing awareness of the need to serve all of those within the NIC area that have physical and/or mental challenges.
WWWWood Dale Community is a United Methodist Church and is a part of the Northern Illinois Conference of the UMC. In 2016, the church obtained Rainbow Covenent status by contributing to various mission projects and goals of the general church. In addtion to those, the church supports Heiffer International, the Wood Dale Community Food Pantry,  and Shoeheals.org among others.  www.umcnic.org

  1. 5th Sunday in Lent
    Worship at 10:00 including celebration of the sacrament of Holy Communion. Pastor Terry's message is "A Year's Wages" discussing the Gospel of John 12:1-8 and the motives behind our relationship with God.
  2. Palm Sunday/ 90th
    90 years in service to the community is a special achievement indeed. On this day, our worship will be lead by Rev. Dr. Sally Dyck, Presiding Bishop of the Northern Illinois Conference of the United Methodist Church. She will be joined by Re. Darneather Murph-Heath, District Superintendent & our pastor, Rev. Terry McDorman. Service begins at 10 and will be followed by a celebration luncheon.
  3. Good Friday
    The Salt Creek Cluster of UM churches shall worship together this evening at First UMC in Elmhurst at 7:00 pm. The pastors of all seven churches will assist District Superintendent Rev. Darneather Murph-Heath in reflecting upon the seven last words of Jesus Christ.
  4. Easter Sunday
    The Lord has Risen! Alleluia!!!!!!! Come be with us at 10:00 as we celebrate eternal salvation.
